Volunteer Opportunities

Our Vision and Mission

The Calgary Grey Cup Committee is dedicated to celebrating and promoting the Grey Cup’s rich heritage, embodying the spirit of Western hospitality, and fostering community spirit. Sponsored by the City of Calgary and the Calgary Stampede, we strive to create memorable experiences for all participants and attendees.

Origins and Spirit of Western Hospitality

Founded on community and Western hospitality principles, the Calgary Grey Cup Committee has a proud history of bringing people together to celebrate one of Canada’s most esteemed sporting events. Our sponsorship by the City of Calgary and the Calgary Stampede underscores our commitment to these values and traditions.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

We are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all volunteers and participants. Our programs and activities ensure a safe, fair, and equitable experience for everyone, regardless of background or affiliation.

Our Relationship with the Calgary Stampeders

While many of our members are enthusiastic supporters of the Calgary Stampeders, the Calgary Grey Cup Committee operates independently. We welcome volunteers who support any team, fostering a spirit of unity and camaraderie.

Volunteer Opportunities

We offer a variety of committees you can join:

  • Breakfast
  • VIP Event
  • School Visit
  • Royal Canadian Legion
  • Music/Band
  • Entertainment (clowns and mascot)
  • Media and Social Media
  • Fundraising (individual, corporate)
  • Administration

Financial Considerations

All volunteers are responsible for their own clothing, meals, travel, and accommodation costs. The approximate cost to attend the Grey Cup, including travel, meals, and accommodation, is $1,500-$2,000. Being part of the committee does not entitle you to free Grey Cup tickets.

Physical Obligations

Volunteering with us involves both indoor and outdoor activities. Volunteers should be capable of lifting up to 10 kg (20 lbs), bending, standing for long periods of time, and moving as required.

Time Commitment

Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of four days during Grey Cup week. Additionally, there are two to four meetings per year outside of Grey Cup week.

Priority During Grey Cup Week

Volunteers must prioritize Committee events during Grey Cup week over other festival activities. Your dedication and enthusiasm are vital to the success of our events and the enjoyment of all participants.

Join us in creating an unforgettable Grey Cup experience and be a part of our vibrant community!
